Which criteria do we use?
Each and every Our Planet product meets at least three environmentally responsible criteria. Think recycled materials, circular design and minimal impact on nature.
Naturally, a healthy planet requires more than just a healthy environment. Therefore, we have also incorporated criteria on social and ethical responsibility. Should some or all of these criteria be met, you will be able to find this online within the product description. However, these alone are not decisive in achieving the Our Planet label. On this page, we explain to you all possible criteria and corresponding external accreditations.
Better raw materials
A product will consist of at least 50% recycled (such as leather or wool), organic (such as cotton) or alternative materials (e.g. viscose, made from fast renewable resources). We apply strict criteria to ensure that natural resources do not become depleted and that production does not cause any pollution.

The longer a product lasts, the lower its impact on the environment. We consider the following parameters: is it a second-hand product, does it come with a lifetime warranty and/or can the product be easily repaired? This ensures that waste is minimised, while also saving on new raw materials.

Our Planet helps you make more conscious decisions when buying something new. The label provides more insight into a product’s composition and/or the external certifications it (the company) has been awarded. Our selection shows that information is available on the product's environmental impact.
Because we want to be 100% transparent, you should know that A.S.Adventure does not independently verify the certificates of a product or brand. Instead, we rely on the authorities responsible for auditing quality marks and labels. You can rest easy knowing that we only use premium certifications that enjoy widespread recognition in the industry.
Products with the Our Planet label can prove that they satisfy at least three ecological sustainability criteria via independent certifications. What’s more, if they also satisfy certain social and/or ethical criteria, this will also be listed in the online product description.
Does this mean that products without Our Planet labels are ‘worse’? Not at all. Sometimes a product label doesn’t state its composition, while, for example, it’s actually made of recycled materials. Or sometimes the brand just hasn’t gone through the accreditation process (yet) for a particular certificate. Since we can’t verify this for every product, it can’t be awarded an Our Planet label.
It is possible that an item does not make our selection, but it may still have a good or an even better ecological footprint than an Our Planet product. The difference is that, thanks to Our Planet, with no extra effort you immediately know that attention has been paid to a minimal environmental impact.
We derive the impact of a product from two things: the material composition, on the one hand, and the certifications it has earned, on the other.
To meet the sustainability criteria in terms of material selection, the product’s composition must be stated explicitly on the product label. This guarantees its validity. Does the product contain recycled, organic, and/or alternative materials? That automatically gives it an edge over less sustainable materials.
Certifications also reveal a lot about a product’s impact. For that reason, we only accept independent quality labels that are internationally recognised. These authorities always thoroughly vet the product and/or brand. Plus, A.S.Adventure carries out its own periodic spot checks to ensure that certificates haven’t expired.
You can easily filter on ‘Our Planet’ in the webshop, or just search for ‘Our Planet’ via the search bar. That instantly gives you an overview of the whole range. Are you looking for a specific item, like a jacket for example? In the product overview, a small Our Planet logo also always displays next to the products that have earned the label. If you click through to the product page, you’ll also discover which criteria the product satisfies.
Do you prefer the in-store shopping experience? Head over to one of the info kiosks to check specific product features. Or ask a shop assistant whether a product has been awarded the Our Planet label.
With Our Planet, we at A.S.Adventure want to make it easier to choose something that you know has an ecological focus. There’s no shortage of certificates these days, but we only use meaningful criteria and a product has to meet at least three of them. We did the research for you!
No. We don’t make any profit from it. For example, brands do not pay us to ‘earn’ the label. We developed the criteria entirely on our own, and we do not make exceptions for certain products or brands.
A small note: more sustainably produced products do often come with a higher price tag. Unfortunately, it costs more to make (or buy) something today if you are more considerate of the planet. However, Our Planet wasn’t developed with a commercial mindset. It stems from a genuine concern for nature and our environment.
Although we’re optimistic, we’ve got to tell it like it is and say no. That’s because every product has a certain (negative) impact on the environment. Even recycled or second-hand products have, at some point, depleted resources. Energy, water, soil and/or chemicals were used to create them.
However, we can guarantee that Our Planet products meet at least three ecological criteria, which proves that the brand is committed to a lower ecological footprint. And we want to highlight that commitment with Our Planet.
Our Planet’s purpose isn’t to compare products to see which items deserve the label ‘the most’. It simply tells you something about the material composition and/or the certificates the product or brand has been awarded. Our Planet is also limited to the A.S.Adventure assortment. Only products in our range can be awarded the label.
Our Planet is not an officially recognised label. The label was created by A.S.Adventure to highlight products that meet certain sustainability criteria. We don’t conduct any audits to verify the validity of certain product certifications, but we do carry out regular spot checks to see whether certifications are still valid.
Screening a production process entails a huge amount of work because every link has to be checked. For organic materials, the soil has to be checked for pesticides on site. Wastewater has to be checked for harmful substances at the factory itself. Plus, it has to be verified that animals have not suffered and that people have been paid fairly, and so on.
We rely on 58 external quality labels, all of which have the expertise for these checks. They assess whether a brand or product meets their standards, which then effectively results in a certificate (or not). At A.S.Adventure, we believe in sticking to what we know best, which means we don’t check the products ourselves.
One certificate isn’t the same as the next. We only selected internationally recognised labels, which have their own audit process for ensuring that their standards are met. On top of that, we’ve gone for certificates that cover a broad range of environmental, social, and ethical goals and visions. The common denominator? These labels really make a difference.
Here’s a practical example: it's not enough that a producer measures their CO2 emissions; they also need to draw up and implement plans for reducing those emissions.
When we launched Our Planet in 2021, our intention was always to evolve and change where necessary. And since industry standards, technology, and production methods change at a lightning pace, we’ve got to match those speeds. So, in 2023, we launched a new version, raising the bar even higher. That way, you’re guaranteed that Our Planet is a selection of genuinely more sustainable products that make their impact clear in a very transparent way.
