GOT BAG

The world's first backpack made of ocean plastic? That was made by the German GOT BAG brand. These minimalist, timeless backpacks are therefore not only incredibly sustainable, but also a symbol of being mindful of our natural resources. Made of Ocean Impact Plastic, they call it.

The iconic GOT BAG Rolltop was the first item in the collection. Only recycled PET (polyethylene terephthalate), an environmentally friendly alternative to conventional plastic, was used for the material. Meanwhile, the rolltops alone account for more than 100 tonnes of recycled plastic. And then we haven’t even mentioned the wonderful new zipped daypacks.

The German company shows that economic activity and ecological responsibility can co-exist. They run their own Ocean Clean-up programme in Indonesia, which of course recycles the material for its own production. But even the portion of non-recyclable plastics that is collected ends up in suitable solutions and is not simply tossed away.

Why backpacks? According to founder Benjamin Mandos, they are perfect because you don't have to clean them often, so they lose very few microplastics. They are also popular travel companions for those who want to see a bit of the world. So do you want to keep that world somewhat clean for future generations of travellers? GOT BAG has got our back.
