UV clothing: enjoy the sun without worries

Heading out for a long time, but the sun is blazing? Sunlight gives you energy, but too much UV exposure can seriously damage your skin. While sunscreen can wear off or wash away over time, UV-protective clothing provides constant, reliable protection. At A.S.Adventure, you’ll find a wide selection of UV clothing for the whole family, so you can stay active outdoors for hours without constantly worrying about sunburn. Planning to take a dip, where you burn even faster? Then opt for UV-protective swimwear!

FAQ – frequently asked questions about UV clothing

Regular summer clothing (such as a thin white cotton T-shirt) can still let through a surprising amount of UV radiation, especially when the fabric is wet or stretched. UV clothing is made from tightly woven fabrics, sometimes treated with UV-absorbing materials, which can block up to 98% of harmful UVA and UVB rays.

UPF stands for Ultraviolet Protection Factor. It is the clothing equivalent of SPF used for sunscreen. A garment with UPF 50+ offers the highest level of protection and allows less than 1/50th (2%) of UV radiation to reach your skin.

Yes, but the level of protection depends on the material. Specific UV swimwear and rash guards (often made of polyester or nylon) maintain a high UPF rating even in water. Wet cotton, on the other hand, loses much of its protective capacity.

You don’t need to apply sunscreen underneath UV clothing. However, make sure to protect all exposed areas of your body, such as your face, hands, lower legs and neck, by applying sunscreen regularly.

Wash UV clothing on a gentle cycle (30°C) without fabric softener, as softeners can damage the density of the fibers.
