Head lamps
Taking a good headlamp with you when you go out on an adventure? Always a bright idea. A headlamp comes in handy more often than you would think. Whether you’re camping, travelling by car, trekking through the mountains, or on your evening run: it provides light in the darkness and leaves your hands free. You can choose a rechargeable headlamp, one that runs on batteries, or a combination of the two. If you go for batteries, make sure you always have an extra set in your pocket in case of an emergency!
FAQ – Frequently asked questions about headlamps
Imagine you’re in the mountains, the sun is setting faster than you’d planned, and you still haven’t spotted your hut. Or that you need to fix something during a bike ride in the dark. Then you’ll need not only light but also your hands to clamber over rocks, manoeuvre your hiking poles, or make repairs. You can start to see why you need a headlamp now, right?
If your headlamp has the following features, then your adventures will completely light up:
- A long battery life, so you can always count on it.
- Various modes, including economy mode, red light, and flashing light.
- Tilt function so you can easily direct the beam.
- An adjustable headband.
A brightness of 100 to 150 lumens is fine for normal activities, such as moving around a campsite or running. If you are more adventurous and want to walk, cycle, or jog at night, you will be better off with 200 to 300 lumens. For really intense outdoor sports like mountain biking, climbing, or trail running, look for headlamps with a high light output of up to 750 lumens.
