The Macpac Pursuit 40 is part of our Alpine Series – designed in partnership with the renowned New Zealand Alpine Team. Tested, refined and retested by elite climbers on some of the world’s toughest alpine routes, the Macpac Pursuit 40 has been pushed to its limits to ensure it meets their demands for lightweight, durable gear that can stand up to the alpine environment. It includes a range of features, including ice axe attachments, a removable bivy mat, daisy chains for bungee attachments, and low profile shoulder straps for freedom of movement.
THE NEW ZEALAND ALPINE TEAM:
The Pursuit 40 was one of the first installments in the Alpine Series. Macpac’s design team worked closely with the NZAT to develop a lightweight mountaineering pack that could handle tough alpine terrain. It includes a range of features, such as ice axe attachments, a removable bivy mat and daisy chains for bungee attachments.
“We really wanted a lightweight, sturdy yet well thought-out pack for mountaineering. This pack was one of the first items we designed with Macpac as part of the Alpine Series, and has led the progression onto the rest of the range which is designed to work with this pack. We’ve done some big trips with this pack, and have been out for eight days with it – the longest we’ve been outwith a pack of this size. It’s got everything you need, but nothing superfluous. Most importantly, it stands up to the rough environments we take it into,” says Daniel Joll, member of the NZAT.
